I am very excited to share this new version of my song “Patience” with you today. Listen wherever you like to listen digitally, or head to Bandcamp to download the song today. Bandcamp is waiving their cut today (May 1) so 100% of the purchase goes to the artist. For a limited time this song is available on a “pay what you want” basis. Take it as my lil gift to you, or pay whatever you want. I plan to make a donation to COVID-19 relief funds (Oxfam and Project Hope) for "Giving Tuesday" which is coming up next week. Read on for how I feel about this song + check out the beautiful video that accompanies the song... ABOUT THE SONG... There are certain songs of mine that people always ask me about after I play them at live shows. Patience is one of those songs. People seem to instantly connect with it and I love when that happens. That's why I started making music in the first place. It's a song I wrote to overcome a period of time where I needed patience the most. Now, it's one of my most requested songs throughout my recent livestream shows. Understandably, a lot of folks can relate to needing and wanting a little extra patience right now. I started wondering how I could reimagine this song from my home. I went back to the original recording and stripped a bunch of layers off until it was just vocals, piano and strings. The result, I think, has a pretty powerful and moving feeling. I hope you enjoy this reimagined stripped back version inspired by some especially trying times, and I hope you and your loved ones find patience and peace. ABOUT THE VIDEO... I met Mike Smith, a super talented photographer, videographer and all around nice guy, while on tour with Chadwick Stokes last year. I asked if he might have an idea for a visual representation of this new stripped down version of “Patience” and he really nailed it. He seamlessly integrated some footage from his past Iceland travels with my home isolation footage. I am mostly confined to our home and lovely backyard with our dogs, here in Providence, Rhode Island. Laid against Mike's beautiful footage, the video creates this nostalgic mix of emotions. For me, it feels like longing… to go on an adventure, to see the people we love that we can’t be with right now, to travel, to explore…. but at the same time very much appreciating where I am in the moment, and being grateful for everything I have. Hope you enjoy the new version of the song, and the video.
